At the Arthur Murray Lincolnshire Dance Center, we believe group environments are an important part of learning how to ballroom dance. That’s why we offer both group dance lessons and practice parties, otherwise known as practice sessions. This gives students the chance to work with a variety of dancers and instructors. Browse our calendar to find a class that aligns with your goals and interests.
Working with a partner is a big part of ballroom dancing. We recommend group dance lessons to help build your partnering skills. In a group setting, you not only get to meet new people, but you get to practice dancing with different partners. This helps promote good dance habits and gives you the chance to learn from dancers who might be more experienced.
Group dance lessons come in handy for reviewing patterns and techniques as well as learning some new ones. Repetition helps build muscle memory and confidence on the dance floor. In short, group lessons allow you to practice what you know and expand your skill set.
We recommend all students – regardless of skill level – attend practice parties. They’re a great way to practice your dancing in a safe environment that is similar to dancing at a club or special event. Instructors are always present to provide guidance and encouragement. This is another fantastic opportunity to practice what you learned with instructors and students. You will also have a chance to make new friends. If you are learning with a partner, practice parties provide a wonderful opportunity for a date night that allows both of you to practice your dancing.
We maintain a casual, relaxing atmosphere so everyone can have fun and feel comfortable. Surrounded by other dancers, you’ll get to build camaraderie and receive encouragement and support from one another. Practice parties are scheduled every week, so be sure to keep your eye out for the next one.
